A few weeks ago, a coworker and I took a business trip to San Diego. I haven't been to San Diego since I was about 4 years old, so this was a new experience for me. This was a week-long trip (We flew out Monday afternoon and returned late Friday night). Anyway, when I wasn't attending sessions and such, I tried to get out and take a few pictures.

We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel & Marina. It was OK. We stayed there because it was the conference hotel; I wouldn't stay there again. Everything cost extra, including internet. And they stopped giving us shampoo and conditioner after the second day too. Also, they stuck us in the older "Bay Tower" (there is a newer "Marina tower"), which means we had to walk outside a decent distance to reach most of the hotel's amenities (including the conference rooms). Anyway, that's the hotel above, and below is our view from the 4th floor. (Really nice, except that the airport's on the other side of the marina. Loud!)

Check out this tree. Flowers, but no leaves!

One night, we took a taxi to the Gaslamp quarter...

Yeah, that's me with my thumbs up in front of the chocolate store below. :)

Another afternoon, we took a taxi to Balboa Park.

And we went to the San Diego zoo.

older panda

The panda below is an 8-month-old baby, and weighed about 30 pounds (according to the zoo guide). When they are born they are the size of a stick of butter, apparently.

a baby panda!

Before our flight left on Friday afternoon, we spent a couple of hours exploring Old Town, which from what I can tell is a touristy area that has a lot of Mexican influences.

We took two different little propeller planes to get home. I looked at (and heard) the view below from Denver to Fargo.

It was actually a pleasant flight though: flights to Fargo North Dakota on Friday nights are *not exactly* crowded most of the time! Each person pretty much had their own row!

That was my trip, in a nutshell. But there are MORE photos! We ate so much delicious food on this trip, I decided that it deserved a post of its own! That's coming up later this week.
